Assignment 2: URLVD
A small exercise in positive digital messaging.
URLVD is a simple app that lets you know others are thinking of you by sharing images and messages. Unlike many of the messaging apps currently available, URLVD has no alerts. This is because alerts can create digital anxiety, aka FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), and allows the user control over their access and engagement.
The other feature that is different from current messaging apps is the ability to ‘Bank’ a message for later. This means that the recipient of the banked message or image can open the app and hit ‘Get some love’, which draws from the banked images and messages that have been sent previously, reinforc- ing that at some time in the past, another member of their circle has previously sent them some love.
There is also the opportunity to send love on a specified date, such as a birthday or anniversaries.
Assignment 3: EmoSpotter
Empathy is a difficult thing to foster in children. There are a range of theoretical methodologies that can be applied to how children learn to be empathetic. Some would say “My child is naturally empathetic.” Others would say that empathy is learned through socialisation at pre-school.
