Transcript of interview with User Tester A
This is the current mobile app for readings. Just click through it real fast and tell me what you think.
A: This popup is very annoying. It seems like there is a lot of stuff. I don’t get the date and time. I wish there was a date picker. This makes it seem like I’m buying 2 seats. The seats are very small. Why is it so tiny? I don’t understand. Please god let it be done! It’s so small! Its confusing, but I made it to the end.
Me: You feedback is very similar to the other feedback. That very first pop-up was to add the ‘app’ to your home screen, but it’s just really a bookmark.
This is the revised prototype, please look through it and let me know your thoughts.
A: I Like the popcorn, but I don’t want to join the club right now. Popcorn gets my attention.
Oh, this is great! I can see which movies are available, which ones are coming up soon. I love the get tickets are at the top. I’d want the whole thing to be clickable [referring to the dropdown arrow – make the whole thing clickable]. I kinda want it to be just a date picker or a calendar, then I could easily choose. Maybe date and time are separate boxes? This is much easier to use. Cool, lots of confirming. I don’t know if I’m eligible for the discount tickets, be cool to know. Student tickets or something. I like I can change it if I want to? Maybe I’m sitting there with Jeffery and her can watch the trailer to see if he likes it or wants to see it. Lots of confirmation. Cool.
Oh I love this [the email ticket button] cos I always take a screenshot cos I don’t want to have to find it in my emails. I love the add to calendar feature, what I’d expect there is a confirmation, done, added, or it opens the calendar app and shows it to me. I’d probably have it email me the tickets to make sure I have them, and I’d just expect it to in one box.
But so, that’s it?
Me: Yeps, you got the tickets to your movie! So comparing the two experiences, how do you feel?
A: I still don’t love it that there’s a popup, but I get it, ok, there’s discount voucher. If I were just coming to get tickets, it’s easy and I love it. I love how straightforward it is. I love how much confirmation along the way. A lot of these things you’re never sure if you get the seats or whatever.
Choosing seats, I wouldn’t mind if it were on another page. I think the cost, or amount could be larger, it seems small. Not sure how to fix it. Seats could be hard for stumpy fingers.
Me: Another way I thought of doing it is to have like 1,2,3,4 then a plus button, then the plus would take you to another page cos you’re most likely to be a family group or a kids party or something like that.
A: that would be too complicated. The numbers need to be larger. I just wanna press an arrow. It’s clear, there’s no question as to what’s happening.
Me: Outside of the interface, is there anything you’d like to change?
A: The apple wallet add.
Me: that’s a really good idea. I don’t use those things.
A: Yeah, I didn’t either, but I’ve started to and it makes things really easy. I guess I’d like the seat to be bigger, maybe an overlay? It could fade into the background.
Me: Seats are the biggest issue.
A: They’re just too small.
Me: Maybe a zoom button? Like plus plus?
A: Oh maybe, yeah.
Me: Cool, anything else you’d like to add?
A: Nah.
Me: Ok, thanks for your time!
Transcript of interview with User Tester B
Me: welcome and explain.
B: The popup is confusing. Like do I have to join? Is it a subscription?
[goes through the site, silently]
Ok, sometimes I just want to see what movie is available in the theatre. I’ll just want to go back to chose the movie without the theatre first. Is that the theatre, or the movie?
Me: that’s the location of the theatre. So do you think putting the trailers above the tickets would work?
B: yeah, then I can see the different time slots for that movie?
Me: cool.
B: Sometime I just wanna watch a movie but I don’t know what movie I wanna watch, like maybe I’m free between 3 and 6 pm and I wanna watch a movie in that time slot.
I feel like the price could be a little bit bigger?
How do you enter the discount code, or get the discount?
Me: This is an interesting point. In Queenstown, for example, there are a few different ticket types, student, general, gold card, but in Porirua, near where I live, there is only one type!
B: That Interesting! Over here you can have the discounts [on review page]. Maybe you should have change on this side [right of screen] so it makes it look like the more important information is the text and not the button.
What’s the difference between ticket price and fees?
Me: The fees are for the online purchase for each ticket.
B: Oh ok.
For the QR code, I’d like it if I could save this image. Usually I don’t want to open my email, so I’d just save the image to my phone and show it when I get to the cinema.
Me: So you wouldn’t want it to be emailed?
B: No, just the screenshot.
[Conversation about collecting the paper tickets and how disorganised it is at the theatre].
B: I like this function, add to calendar.
Me: Anything else to add?
B: Nah
Me: Thanks for your time.
